Monday -- Day 39 in the 2011 2012

The Niners are Back!!

A super quick one today.  We had an afternoon meeting after work today.

CNN students
The dedication of the national memorial for civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.     How the National Mall is not your typical mall (i.e. no Ambercrombie and no food court).  The "Occupy Wall Street" movement.    U.S. troops are heading to those the Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo,  the Central African Republic and South Sudan.

Heritage Project and DEAR time....
Students either prepared to deliver and record their heritage project or they read for enjoyment.

Meet Ms. McGovern
The new assistant principal quickly stopped by to introduce herself to the class.  She will be at Dublin Elementary on Mondays, Thursdays, and Friday.   What do I know about her?  She is a fellow UC Davis Aggie, she is an avid Oakland A’s fan and she used to be on the district technology team.

Math
Distributive property
Due to smartboard issues, we have no notes to share today.
However we did as a class complete the first four problems of tonight’s homework and we watched a video describing the distributive property.
The class was also given 20 minutes to work independently on their math and complete a sizable amount of their homework.

Want more resources?
Watch the Alameda presentation.
Khan lesson on basic distributive property
Khan lesson #2 on basic distributive property
Khan lesson #3 on distributive property
Brainpop on the distributive property

Prepare for the week...
Once again I chose a student’s day planner and modeled and encouraged students to copy how I would effectively use a day planner.  So all of our homework should be captured into their day planner.

Go over this week’s grammar lessons....we reviewed the P.B. pages on 123, 124 and 125

FYI -- we are doing another large earthquake drill on the 20th;

Kind regards,

Mr. Hubbard
