Day 34 of 2011 2012 school year -- Monday

Day 34
Unemployment remains at 9.1% which means 14 million Americans are out of work.  President Obama has a plan built on increased government spending.  The legislative branch, specifically the Republican run House of Representatives, don’t agree with it.   Then they discussed how to best deal with school bullying.   Finally they had a little bit of news about Christopher Columbus.

We completed our writing assessments.  We began on Friday and about ¾th of the class completed the assignment today.   Those that finished early were able to study for tomorrow’s science test, work on www.IXL.com or study for tomorrow’s math test.

Math:
We prepared for tomorrow’s math test.  We reviewed the different ways to divide and we reviewed mean, median, mode and range.
For the test tonight, make sure the notebook has the definitions and examples in them, review the sections in the test,  review or complete www.pearsonsuccessnet.com (they took the topic 4 assessment on-line on Thursday, work on www.ixl.com or watch the four videos that Khan Academy has on long division.

Here are the notes along with tonight’s homework.

P.E.

After P.E., I once again modeled and requested that they write in their notebook exactly how I was showing them on the overhead.  They then had exactly 30 minutes to begin prioritizing and working on this week’s more important tasks.  Students were STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to work on science studying (for tomorrow’s test), math homework&studying (for tomorrow’s test) or work on www.IXL.com regarding the skills being tested on tomorrow.
