Day 37

CNN Students
We made up for two days of CNN’s so many topics were discussed and written about.  Topics you can quiz your son/daughter about are:  presidential debate (jobs and equality for women), The Rubik`s Cube big comeback, the young girl from Pakistan that spoke out for girl’s rights & education and what the Taliban did to her, girls not allowed to go to school in some of the world, and finally a bike made 100% out of recycled materials such as cardboard and tires.  The kids really liked the final piece on the new lighter, cheaper and environmentally friendly bike.

We then had time to work on mean, mode, median, & range, complete homework, read for enjoyment, work on a math challenge, or complete tests/assessments.

Library visit -- followed by our earthquake drill.

The class giggled for a little bit however they were pretty amazing.

Math:
More practice writing out expressions and solving expressions.
Here are our notes.

Science rotation page 174-177 + vocab cards due on Tuesday

Math Art

They returned and we had a great discussion on what makes something honest or not honest.  We also talked about if it is ok to not always be honest?  What is stealing and what isn’t?   It was some great honest conversations!!

We are week away from our first of three book projects.  I promised the students that I would give them “at least” two hours on Monday to work on their book project.  Therefore they have weekend homework.  They need to remember to bring their book into class on Monday, bring any materials they need for completing the project and have given some thought to how they want to complete the sections.

Students that have completed their project may use this time to either begin their next book project, use that time to study or create an independent project, have what they have completed be peer edited or read for enjoyment.
Kind regards,
Mr. Hubbard
