I was out yesterday since Devin acquired a virus. He is back therefore I made my triumphant return today.
Today has two rotations so it went by pretty quickly when combined with our Topic 3 test.
We reviewed last night’s math homework. We then proceeded to take topic 3’s test.
Then the class went to Mrs. Wilmott’s for science. They continue to cover outer space.
We then completed our math tests and/or worked on science/math homework.
With math today, we covered basic division. Again we are using some of the best practice techniques covered by the group from Alameda that went out and researched what better performing countries were doing in relationship to math.
Here is how we began teaching division, click here for the lesson.
Here is a more detailed lesson.
Here are the notes from today and yesterday.
In universal access time today, groups discussed prime numbers versus composite numbers. The idea of composite numbers versus prime numbers will be a key compenent in 5th grade math and beyond.
