Then some DEAR time.
We then began this week’s assessment regarding Language Arts.  Students will work on the common assessment that all of 5th grade is taking for about an hour a day for this week.

9-11 discussions.
We watched the brainpop.com move on 9-11.
Click here to watch the 5 minute movie.

We then watched the CNN for student movie that discussed the history of the two towers, how many people worked and used the twin towers, a run down of what went down 10 years ago, what is being done now in Ground Zero, the progress of the new Tower 1 and how did people throughout the USA took time to remember and recognize those who left us and those who stood up and acted courageously.

Math:
We began preparing for our end of Chapter 2 test.
We reviewed some of tonight’s homework as a class.
The next two evenings and tomorrow’s class-time will be our opportunity to prepare for Wednesday’s test.

P.E. time w/ Ms. L

Prepare for the week:
I used a students actual day planner and modeled exactly what it should look like as we prepare and prioritize for this upcoming week.
As we filled out our day-planner it became apparent that our Wednesday evening could be a challenging evening unless we plan ahead and complete some of those assignments on the evening of Monday or Tuesday.
****After the prioritizing discussion and time for writing in their dayplanner, students were given 25 minutes to begin working on this week’s homework.  About ½ the class used this time wisely and began on math, studying science vocabulary or working on their challenge word defintions.  The other 15 students under utilized their 25 minutes and essentially only worked when explicitly monitored by Mrs. Silva or myself.   Your son/daughter should have 25 minutes of work to show as already completed.
