Day 162 of week 35
If you haven’t already, please return the large packet with the all of the field trip forms. We have our first field trip on Friday (our walk to Wells Middle School).
We began the day with our second math exam. The students finished with time to spare and I can happily report that some of them made the effort to relook over the test prior to calling it a day.
After the students completed the math testing, they were broken into teams and we participated in a 5th grade science review competition. Tomorrow’s final state testing will be on the 5th grade science expectations.
The students did have class with Mrs. Wimott today and they did more 5th grade science review. Mrs. Wilmott assigned them 30 to 45 minutes of reading through their science books tonight for homework. She guessed only 75% of the student would actually do it. Encourage your students to prove Mrs. Wilmott wrong!!
We had a 20 minute block before lunch and the kids had been now hit with a test and 90 minutes of science test prep. Therefore we enjoyed the following heartwarming non-fiction movie about a young 9 year old named Caine. Click here for more information and if you would like to donate to his scholarship fund.:
They ended the day with Mrs. Cargo’s class. I can confirm while they discussed health topics it was not under the guise of science state test prep.
Great news...Jared’s story was selected 3rd place in the Berkeley Short Story competition that all of the students participated in early this school year.
You can read his story -- The Hoarder Treasure right here.
You can see from this link that over 400 stories were submitted so to take place 3rd place is a great honor.
You can also see on this link that Dublin Elementary has earned distinction prior (i.e. see 2009 winnerS) and so have the Merrill family.
Our Test Schedule:
Wednesday, May 16th 8:30-10:30’ish Science I & II
