Day 157 of Week 34

Tuesday, May 8, 2012

It was on like a Jamaican mon as we completed our first day of state testing.

Thanks to Savannah’s family for the water, Vanessa’s family for the yummy fruit kabobs, and Lisa’s family for the cheese & beef jerky -- the students were able to load up on yummy snacks as they completed their tests over a 130 minute time period.
We still have a few spots open if you would like to volunteer and energize the kids why they dominate the state tests.    Click here to see the volunteer snack sign up sheet.

Out Test Schedule:
Wednesday, May 9th  8:30-10:30’ish Language Arts  II
Thursday, May 10th 8:30-10:30’ish  Math I

Tuesday, May 15th 8:30-10:30’ish  Math II
Wednesday, May 16th 8:30-10:30’ish Science I & II

After state testing we ran around in the beautiful sun and enjoyed ourselves as we burned off some acquired adrenaline and/or let loose after concentrating for so long.

They then did some science review with Mrs. Wilmott for 45 minutes.

We then watched two videos on the marshmallow experiment.
Here is the video.
Here is the write up about what this professor discovered decades later.

After lunch -- students were given the opportunity to work on tonight’s math homework (10 question review) or watch Frozen Planet.   Many students chose to do a mix and/or work on their art work.

Homework for the week:

Get at least 10 hours of sleep per evening.

Exercise and enjoy the gift of this sun.

Eat an amazing breakfast full of protein and produce.

Start collecting “adjectives” due Thursday

Math --- A packet was handed out on Tuesday (5/8/12)   Students were given 10 problems to complete every evening.   Concepts have all been covered this year, if they don’t remember how to complete the problem they should use their book and ideally go onto www.ixl.com and master that skill.

May 10th -- the class will be having lunch provided by the Gomez family.  They are making enchiladas and chicken fettuccine.   If you believe that your son/daughter will enjoy this treat then they do not have to bring a lunch in on that day.

States and Capitals exam will be on Friday.
