Tuesday #108 2011 2012

Day 108 -- Tuesday

We began the day observing the beautiful artwork that the kids created under the mastermind artist Mrs. Miller.

We used the morning to continue completing the various assessments desired by the district and/or used during our grade level collaboration time.    Which is tomorrow therefore the kids go home at 1:50 on Wednesday.

They had Mrs. Wilmott and science today.  They have a test tomorrow so expect a study guide homework and pages 97-99.

Math
More practice with percents and ratios.
The test is tomorrow.

The biggest challenges:
Finding what a % is of a whole number (e.g. what is 90% of 35)?
Here is a great mini lesson on %
Here is another great % video lesson.
Finding out what is a % of a particular fraction (32/40 is what %)?

Get ready for the week and also begin reviewing the California 5th grade expectations in Language Arts.

They ended the day with Mrs. Cargo.  They are doing a great lesson where they get to create their own graphing art and math challenge.  I’ve seen a few of them and they are amazing.
