Thursday, #119 2012-2013

Thursday
Day 119 of week 28
Pi = 3.14
Today can be written as 3.14 therefore every March 14th is Pi Day.

So we found some time this afternoon to learn about circumference, radius, diameter, area of a circle and EAT Pi’e!!!

The morning time we spent a little extra time seeing if Johnny Tremain was going to literally hang for allegedly stealing silver from mean old Mr. Lyte.  Ask your son/daughter about Johnny’s fate and what did and what they think will happen to him.

Then we corrected today’s grammar lessons and collected our week long journey into reviewing prepositions.

At the library we were an especially talkative group today :(

We had an amazing book project completed yesterday.  Especially her first project she did a great job of referring back to actual examples and pages within the book to substantiate her opinion or synthesize.   She also brought an excited murmur to the crowd with her Google presentation skills when she made them interactive for the wordsearch and crossword puzzle.

Today’s presentation had someone who could have maybe went a tad further in referencing back to her book to substantiate opinions or ideas.  However artistically she did a fine job laying out her websites and making the website easy to manage.

We then had science with Mrs. Cargo.  The biggest news?  The science test has been moved until Wednesday.
They also have the Ph experiment worksheet due Tuesday.
The mixture worksheet due Tuesday
Shorts answers answers due Tuesday:
1.  “What are the properties of some common substances?
2. “What are chemical reactions?”
3. “How are chemical and physical properties used?”

We then reviewed last night’s math homework and worked on applying this chapter’s mathematics into common everyday uses.  We calculated tips, taxes, and discounts.
The chapter 17 test will be on Friday.  Students have been doing great on the homework and in-class time therefore please make sure they “study” tonight and re-review their homework/lessons.

Math/Art

Finally we spent the last part of the day learning more about Pi, associated mathematical formulas and finally we ended the day enjoying Pi’e.

Have a great evening.
