Tuesday #123 2011 2012

Tuesday, Day 123, Week 27

CNN Students  A very interesting conversation about the Kony 2012   CNN did not play the video, rather they discussed generically about the atrocities that Kony had wrought and it also focused on how this has become a “movement” or at a minimum something “viral.”   Students were encouraged to discuss this issue with mom or dad if they had more questions.   If they were interested in watching the video since  it does has some intense/mature descriptions and photos they were strongly encouraged to watch it with you.

Short Story -- we used 50 minutes to proofread each other’s short stories.  Every student had an opportunity to have their short story read four to six times.  Tonight’s homework is to take those markings and suggestions and edit their story again.  We hope to have the students have their stories read three to four more times tomorrow.

Science -- there is science homework due tomorrow.  I’m sorry but I encouraged the students to write it down in their day planner.

Math -- we reviewed last night’s homework and saw three different examples of solving the problems using the algebraic method.

Grammar - We reviewed last night’s three review lessons.  We then also did examples from tonight’s three pages of grammar review.

4th grade science review.
Today the students received a science packet of 4th grade review questions and Brainpop quizes.  The packet must be completed by Friday.
We watched Photosynthesis and Food Chain
Here is a great food chain learning game.

We ended the day with a visit to Mrs. Cargo’s class.

Kind regards,
