Nothing brings in the Spring like a Shamrock Shake. |
Sorry for the long break. Last week was report card week therefore time outside of teaching and being a father/husband was minimal. I am guaranteeing a three posting week!!
Spelling pre-test -- here are the words for the week.
CNN Students -- Students wrote about today -- Japan’s memorial services for those lost during last year’s tsunami, the future museum attractions known as our retired Space Shuttle program and the the U.S.S. Enterprise. It was the Navy’s first nuclear powered aircraft carrier and it will soon be retired after one final 7 month deployment.
Test prep practice! We are reviewing our 4th grade science knowledge. We focused on our natural science knowledge. We have been competing against the test results of the other two classes. Our kids performed well as they remembered many lessons from last year.
Math -- Algebra.
Here are our notes from today.
The main lesson we are practicing today is utilizing the algebraic fundamentals and methods.
When a student sees -23 + Y = 29
Many can figure out in their heads that the answer is Y = 52; However we are most concerned with using the process and steps necessary to get the variable (Y) all by itself.
-23 + Y = 29
-23 + 23 + Y = 29 + 23
Y = 52
Plan and document for the week.
Then Physical Education
We ended the day with PEP and today’s lesson was about the dangers of inhalants.
Misc. information:
The bring your own computer to school began last week at Fallon Middle School. We hope to send home similar forms either Tuesday or Wednesday. Therefore if you are interested in having your son/daughter participate, please look forward to that packet.
Outdoor Education Week:
We have two more people that are 75% done with all of the paperwork and with their completion, we will be 100% all set up with chaperones.
Camp will go on!!!
Report Cards:
If you have any questions, comments, suggestions please call or email me. We can set up a time to discuss in more details.
Being healthy and strep free...
We had another day of 2+ students out due to illness. We spent a solid 10 minutes wiping down all of our desk areas with antibacterial cleaning agents. If your student is complaining of not feeling well, side on the area of caution, rest, lots of water and tons of television :)
