Day 147 of Week 32
Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Persuasive letters -- students were given 45 minutes to work and type out their persuasive letters.
While those students worked on their letters, students were able to work on “missed learning opportunities” or tonight’s homework.   Then they traded spots after 45 minutes, therefore each child was able to work 45 minutes towards their homework AND  45 minutes towards their persuasive essay.

Science -- due tomorrow pages 72, 74 and 75 and they should be getting their test signed.

Math -- more review with fraction multiplication;  for many of the students the cobwebs are coming off and they getting a handle again on fraction multiplication.
The big emphasis was showing all your work on the 15 problems.
Here are our notes for the last two days.

Circle time - a quick review of their nature names that they were given during Outdoor Education time.  Then we all verbalized our May testing goals and what were we prepared to accomplish.  There was much cheering done and everyone received their “I am a champion!” wrist band.

Cargo -   due tomorrow page 336 1-10

After school meeting -- we discussed the upcoming 5th grade events and creating “action committees” to handle the 5th grade BBQ, games on BBQ day, and promotion events.   So we now have “project managers” for each of those teams however they are looking for volunteers, brainstormers and helpers.   If you were unable to attend today’s meeting, no big whoop, you can still help out.  Just fill out this form and return it ASAP so we can give your information to the “project manager.”

Don’t forget this Wednesday night:
You and your family are cordially invited to attend the Awards Ceremony for all First Place Student Art Winners at the Regal Hacienda Cinemas on Wednesday night, April 25th at 7:00 PM (admission is free & no tickets are required). The donated art piece will be professionally framed and on display at the ceremony. An award plaque will be presented to each winner (I.E our class please note, that means our class will receive ONE PLAQUE)  and parents may take a picture of the artist(s) with the Honorable Mayor Tim Sbranti and Dublin Schools Superintendent, Dr. Stephen Hanke.
