Tuesday #89 2011 2012

Day 89 of the school year....

Let’s start off with our Outdoor Education, aka 5th grade camp.

We currently have 8.5 chaperons that have acquired the “packet” from Mrs. Bastida in the front office and then completed all of the arduous tasks that are outlined and expected in our litigious C.Y.A. society that we live in.   The required paperwork, TB test and finger print clearance take several weeks and by law anyone working around children must have these safety checks.

The school needs to send off its non-refundable deposit sometime in March.  Therefore  we require 10.5 more volunteers.   If we don’t have 18 cleared volunteers by Friday, March 3rd we will need to cancel this year’s trip.

The trip is from Tuesday morning through Friday afternoon.  We have a ½ because you can choose to trade off with a buddy (e.g. we have had 1 person work Tuesday/Wednesday and another Thursday/Friday or we have had person work days and someone work nights).

If you can help out and ensure the camp will go on , please pick-up the paperwork in the office ASAP from Mrs. Bastida.

Projects -- another 6 presentations were completed today.  We had a French Indian War project, Mount Rushmore project, weapons and other war information, Native Americans during the American Revolution, war artifacts and ancestry, and a “talk show” full of great Revolutionary information.

We hope to finish on Thursday!

CNN Students -- Students learned and wrote about the terrible weather in the state of Alabaman, tonight’s State of the Union, the Chinese Year of the Dragon and how London is securing itself for the 2012 Olympic games.

Science -- homework is 37,38 and 39 due tomorrow.

Math -- more work with decimals.
We corrected last night’s homework and worked on more examples.  Students earning 75% or above were practicing on IXL.com letter G topics while the other students worked with me.   For many I believe the light bulb is coming on regarding decimal multiplication.
See the notes of what we practiced right here.

They ended the day with Mrs. Cargo.

ind regards,

Kind regards,
