Monday #88 2011 2012

Day 88 and week #20 of the 2011 2012 school year...

First off thank you to everyone who were so so generous with my birthday gift.   It means so much that you were all so giving during these economic times.  I hope you know both my family and myself send you our deepest gratitude.

Today -- I just came out of a 90 minute teacher meeting so this is going to be quick today.

CNN Students -- They focused their questions and note taking on the violence happening in Nigeria and how do events happening in Africa and other countries effect us in America.  They also wrote about how topsy turvy things are going in the Republican race for the President nomination since there have been three big election days and three different winners.

DEAR time, spelling pretest and then social studies.

Today we learned about the ride of Paul Revere and discussed the upcoming battles at Concord and Lexington.

Math today -- more work with decimal multiplication.
Students are still struggling with pre-estimating to help them make “logical” or “realistic” decisions when deciding where to place the decimal.
See the notes of what we practiced right here.

Circle Time -- “If you were in a crisis of some-kind and were under a great deal of stress, name the friend that you would turn to”
We had God, various pets, stuffed animals, mom, dad, older siblings and friends within the class.

Get ready for the week in the day planner and talk about planning accordingly.  We did this early today due to the 1:10 p.m.  DES Spelling Bee.   Our three students, Brooke, Drew, and Addison,  represented C-5 well.  It was clear that the contest mattered to them and that they were trying their best.  Kudos go out them for caring and wanting to be their best!!

Thank you again for your generosity and appreciating my profession :)

Kind regards,

Kind regards,
