A day of unexpected challenges...
Library -- they were assigned a Dewey Decimal and identify the library scavenger hunt task. I think this is a really useful assignment that Mrs. Klein created.
Dublin Police came and spoke with the kids about the dangers of meth. They also showed a video where meth users who all looked easily 40+ years old and we were told they were all in their 20’s. Yikes.
Theme 3 test -- we graded and answered questions about the grammar packet and then we rolled out the theme 3 test.
We then had a “bad guy” drill (aka lockdown practice). We did pretty well however we didn’t successfully lock the room next to us in C-4 so that could have been an entry point. So we will review how to ensure a door is locked for future reference.
We extensively reviewed the Alameda/Power of 1 style of multiplying fractions.
I gave five examples and we watched a Brainpop.com regarding this. Unfortunately my Smartboard crashed so the notes from today can not be posted.
Here are the lessons from our friends from Alameda. We will be reviewing these as an entire class the next two days:

After math, we had the Cargo and Wilmott rotations. I know for a fact that we do have science homework tonight. Please review Mrs. Wilmotts/Haar’s website for details.
We have locked down the field trip for ZEUM (www.zeum.org) on Tuesday, February 1st.
Students need to be here by 7:45 in the morning and we are shooting to return at 2:50. Please note that it is a usually 2:05 return time that day.
Here is the permission slip:

*I’ll give a hard copy tomorrow.
We do need 3 to 4 chaperons per class. So email me if you are interested in being a chaperon.
We are hoping that PFC will approve our request for funds next Wednesday. So if you check out their website or if you have been to Zeum, please attend the meeting in support for our request or send an email to your friend PFC board member.
Kind regards,
Mr. Hubbard

Theme 3 Projects will finalized and shown to the class on January 19th.
There will be a Thursday night handout, that will entail reading a 1 or 2 page passage and responding or answering questions. Due to the uniqueness of Wednesday, I did not create a handout for Wednesday. So they will have just a Thursday night reading assignment.
