Wednesday, December 1st

Short and sweet......
It was  a crazy day with another assembly and special visit from Joseph Savage.

We started off with a library trip.  Ms. Klein read a picture book about Hanukkah.

Upon returning they worked on finalizing their projects.  Tomorrow the presentations begin in earnest and I look forward to seeing the projects.

We did math today.  The students all aced yesterday’s math homework and we used the response devices to go over tonight’s.   Everyone who has been doing fractions for a while earned 100% or near 100%.   So tonight’s homework should be completed or just about completed:
234-235 2-32 evens due Thursday

We had our assembly with Soul Shoppe

It focused on bullying and it was great.  I have always really enjoyed the work that this company does towards building community and having open conversations with the 5th graders.

Upon returning, we watched another video that focused on the importance of collaborating and giving your ideas time to become significant:

After lunch, I taught some science.  We watched a Brainpop on the Atom.  They then took a 10 question quiz on the movie.
As a follow up to this lesson, we watched two videos that cover the idea of atoms and molecules:

Joseph Savage then returned to our class and ended the day discussing about bullying and how to best cope and lesson it happening in our school and community.

Kind regards,
Mr. Hubbard
