Day 176 of week 38

We started the day off with bowling.  It was a great time.   Amazingly the kids were ready to eat nachos and french fries as early as 9:30 in the morning.  There was some spirited competition and the loud banging of bowling bowls.  An extra special thank you goes out to Earl Anthony’s Bowling Center for their generous assistance and customer service.

After bowling we completed the final writing assessment of the year.

We spent the last part of the day discussing ideas for exit song on Friday.  If you have any ideas or know of “appropriate” songs that the kids can exit to, please let me know ASAP.   We also discussed the last part of the promotion ceremony.   Finally we quickly reviewed the items that will auctioned off tomorrow.

Kind regards,

Day 175 of week 38

Our final week of 5th grade in the 2011-2012 school year....

Today went super quick.

Promotion ceremony practice lasted the entire morning.
  • Practice walking in
  • Practice where and how to stand on risers
  • Practice saying your lines in our special presentation
  • Practice walking down stairs and saying our lines.

A quick time back in class to discuss bowling logistics and explain the rest of the week.

Their last PE day was supposed to be a “free-choice” day however it rained on their parade.

They ended the day with a rock assembly performed by the Wells Middle School jazz band.  Not too brag, however DES Shark alumni easily made up 2/3rds of today’s rocking band!!

Students also received back the scores of their final states and capitals test.  The class averages for all three 5th grade classes were in the 87-92% range.  This means the “typical” student earned a B+ or an A on this exam!!

At the end of the day all students that ordered a yearbook received one.  Students are welcomed and encouraged to bring their yearbooks to school and have them signed however they must be put away during instruction time or whenever an adult is speaking.

Family life discussions occurred on Friday.    Click here for the videos that your son/daughter watched.   Now is a great time to ask them if they have any follow up questions or if they are interested in discussing further.
